The protection grades of solenoid valves differ greatly. Although there are fairly clear grade differences, many people do not understand this aspect well, which leads to purchase mistakes. Even though the relevant specification standards were introduced long ago, many users still do not understand them, so this issue explains them in detail.
An air-line 2-way 2-position solenoid valve: this system is graded at multiple levels according to its characteristics of contamination resistance and protection against internal moisture. The IP protection grade of a high-quality water-supply solenoid valve consists of two sets of data; the first value represents the dust-proof and moisture-proof capability of machinery and appliances, and the second value represents the moisture-proof capability; the larger the value, the higher the protection grade.
Protective solenoid (valve)
The first parameter is for the 2-way 2-position solenoid valve model:
0 — a custom water-supply solenoid valve indicates that there is no special safety protection against outside persons or objects.
1 — indicates protection against the intrusion of solid objects exceeding 50 mm, and prevention of human body (palm) contact with parts inside the appliance, and prevention of intrusion of external factors exceeding 50 mm.
2 — indicates that solid objects exceeding 12 mm cannot be touched, preventing the human body (fingers) from accidentally touching parts inside the appliance; prevention of external factors exceeding 12 mm.
3 — indicates protection against the intrusion of solid objects exceeding 2.5 mm, preventing tiny external factors exceeding 2.5 mm from touching parts inside the appliance.
4 — indicates protection against the intrusion of solid objects exceeding 1.0 mm, preventing a piston-type normally open solenoid valve from touching parts inside the appliance when a tiny external factor exceeds 1.0 mm.
5 — indicates contamination protection, completely preventing the intrusion of foreign matter, and the amount of dust intrusion will not easily affect the normal operation of the appliance.
6 — indicates contamination protection, completely preventing foreign matter from intruding into the electromagnetic high-pressure valve, and can completely prevent dust intrusion.
Parameter 2:
0 — indicates that there is no safety protection.
1 — indicates protection against penetration; water droplets dripping vertically from a corrosion-resistant normally open solenoid valve will not easily cause damage to the appliance.
2 — indicates that penetration can still be prevented when tilted 15°; when machinery and appliances are tilted 15°, water leakage will not easily cause damage to the appliance.
3 — indicates protection against the spray of rainwater, preventing the penetration of rainwater, or preventing water entering the machinery and appliances at less than 60 degrees in the vertical direction from causing damage.
