Common problems in the application of sealant for 2-way 2-position solenoid valves. In order to better ensure the sealing function, the selection of sealant must consider the following main characteristics:
1. Good embedding, compression, and storage stability, non-toxic or slightly toxic, and low penetration with other media;
2. Can withstand the joint of telescopic movement, offset, and deformation;
3. When subjected to cyclic deformation, it can ensure that the function and shape of the straight-through air-use 2-way 2-position solenoid valve are fully restored;
4. Has sufficient ability to withstand force;
5. Does not peel off; reliable adhesive at the jointed base;
6. Does not char or crack or soften excessively at high or low temperatures;
7. Anti-aging: does not delaminate, crack, fall apart, or shrink excessively; the sliding-type 2-way 2-position solenoid valve has a sufficient service life;
8. Special occasions, such as when there is a need for wear resistance, puncture resistance, corrosion resistance, rolling resistance, flammability, no environmental pollution of the pneumatic solenoid valve, insulation, or conductivity, and so on.
Recently some customers have asked us about the difference between sealant and sealing grease. Below we will briefly introduce their differences.
1. Sealant is generally divided into four forms
1) Mud-like sealant: generally used as a low-grade sealant;
2) Liquid elastomer sealant: has the ability to withstand repeated joint deformation; the service life of a stainless steel 2-way 2-position solenoid valve is generally 15–20 years. This kind of sealant has high cohesive strength and shear strength and has good flexibility at room temperature;
3) Hot-melt sealant: also called heat-construction-type sealant;
4) Liquid sealant: this kind of sealant is mainly used to seal the joint surface of mechanical equipment to replace solid rubber seals, paper strips, asbestos, cork board, and rubber materials, to prevent the liquid inside the mechanical equipment from leaking from the joint surface. Therefore, liquid sealant is also called a liquid sealing ring.
