The pneumatic actuator ball valve has low fluid resistance and relatively low liquid density (almost zero). It generally adopts two forms: reduced bore and full bore. Regardless of the construction, the flow coefficient of the imported pneumatic ball valve is low. Especially the full-bore type—i.e., the pipeline shut-off valve—because its safety drain hole equals the nominal diameter of the pipe, some friction-resistance loss exists compared with seamless steel pipes of the same bore. In other words, among all shut-off valves, such an imported air ball valve has a smaller flow coefficient.
The pneumatic actuator ball valve, with its pneumatic triplet, features fast opening/closing power switching and simple operation, because under normal circumstances closing the valve only requires turning the lever 90 degrees to reach the open or closed state, thus easily achieving high-efficiency opening and closing. In some structures, the opening time is only 0.05–0.1 seconds, ensuring its use in laboratory automatic control. Closing the valve causes no damage.
The normally open solenoid valves made by compressor manufacturers have good sealing rigidity. Currently, most pneumatic actuator ball valves on the market are made of plastic materials such as PTFE; the seals composed of metal composite materials and fiber materials are typically called soft seals. Usually, the sealing of soft seals can be easily ensured, but the requirements for the dimensional accuracy and precision of the sealing surface are not high.
The pneumatic actuator ball valve has a long service life. PTFE has excellent self-lubrication, resulting in less rolling wear on the ball; moreover, due to improved ball processing technology, its strength has also appropriately matched, thereby extending the valve's life. Biaoye Valve Company conducted a life test of the shut-off valve in the laboratory, with a total of more than 10,000 power switching cycles.
